Brandenburg is sparsely populated and extremely rich in protected areas, with a landscape that lets you recognize its glacial formation: vast plains covered by lakes and forests. The Schorfheide Chorin, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2011, is one of the wildest and most natural areas in Brandenburg.
Just by taking a short walk in a Schorfheide forest, skirting a lake, you can have a true birding experience as well as experience a deep and authentic immersion in nature. In spring, the forest is a concert, so many birds of prey fly overhead, reed warblers, bracken warblers, singing reed warblers, and so many other passerines.
From a nature and landscape point of view, it is simply spectacular: in Westhavelland there are the darkest skies in Europe, for people who are keen on astronomy it is a perfect destination, and to think that you can often even see the Northern Lights. It is an area that can be visited all months of the year
My passion fueled my curiosity and together with determination and respect for nature, I managed to become one of the first women to practice birdwatching professionally. I strongly believe in enhancing natural environments and I know how nature is everywhere around us, we just need to train our senses to be able to recognize it better. Would you like to go on a nature discovery trip with me?
Birdstories will be your safe space: diversity and inclusion are celebrated and no form of discrimination will ever be accepted or tolerated
Each itinerary can be customised to be accessible for everybody: this allows anyone to participate and enjoy the joy of a birding and a nature experience.
I personally know the itineraries, I propose and I create them to pass on all my love for the region, promoting places and people who care about the environment.
Perhaps it is because I have spent a period of my life there, but Brandenburg is one of the few places I visit that leave me amazed every time by the beauty of the landscape and nature, which expresses itself wonderfully with every element. Going birding in Brandenburg, in any season, is always an unique experience, which provides unforgettable surprises and observations. Nature appears authentic and safe, and is waiting for you! The many glacial lakes are important nesting sites for raptors such as the sea eagle and osprey. In western Brandenburg, in the valley of the Havel River, is one of the few places in Germany where the Bustard, a species in steep decline and therefore extremely protected, can be observed.
